Aortic Aneurysms: Mechanisms and Pathogenesis
We are delighted to announce the Webinar of our Special Issue on "Aortic Aneurysm and Dissection: Heterogeneity and Molecular Mechanisms".
Aortic aneurysm and dissection are devastating diseases that have a high risk for aortic rupture, leading to uncontrolled bleeding and death. These diseases have complex molecular mechanisms and pathophysiological features. This Webinar invites two research scientists, Drs. Frank Davis and Alan Daugherty, to discuss inflammation-related molecular mechanisms and pathological heterogeneity of aortic aneurysm and dissection. Dr. Frank Davis is a vascular surgeon and research scientist at the University of Michigan. He is a rising star in the research field of aortic aneurysms. Dr. Alan Daugherty is a well-established scientist in the field of aortic aneurysms. He is the Editor-in-Chief of ATVB (Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology), an American Heart Association journal.

Invited Speakers
Dr. Frank Davis is an integrated vascular surgery resident at Michigan Medicine. His research interests include investigating the molecular role of epigenetic modifications in innate immune cells during aortic aneurysm formation and wound physiology. His research pursuits have been funded by multiple grants from the National Institutes of Health F32 and the American Colleges of Surgeons Resident Research Scholarship.

Dr. Alan Daugherty is a Professor and the Chair of Physiology and the Director of Saha Cardiovascular Research Center at the University of Kentucky. He is the Editor-in-Chief of an American Heart Association journal, ATVB (Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology). Dr. Daugherty’s research focuses on aortic aneurysms and atherosclerosis. He has made multiple major contributions to the two research fields. He developed a mouse model of aortic aneurysm: angiotensin II infusion into mice.
